Me: Libby, should you and mama go home?
Libby: No.
Me: No?
Libby: No...go to Cha-get.
What is Cha-get you ask? Took me a minute to decipher her toddler speak before realizing my not-quite two and a half year old was asking to go to Target. (What did I tell you? True lil' Minnesotan!) She is learning about (and thanks to the aforementioned Grammy and Poppy getting her own) money and apparently she has already caught on that we spend (a lot) of money at Target.
So off to Target we went.
It was a usual Target trip for us. It's really rather sad that they are becoming so predictable. She checked out the dollar section, acquiring the Easter hat, which she proceeded to wear throughout the store. Then she headed through the infant/toddler clothing section on her way to toys. She checks out the Play-doh first, then the LeapFrog books, through dolls before stopping to pick up her shopping cart. We detour past the Stinky the Garbage Truck display (really who is inventing and marketing toys nowadays?!) before pushing our cart all the way to the seasonal department. She trails behind me pushing that cart while people smile and chuckle at the sight of her.
When she looks like this, how could you not?
Finally, Libby's Target trip ends in the grocery section, in whatever aisle Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is sold. Today we picked up two boxes of Cars mac and cheese. Seems to be her favorite lately. Once noonles hit the cart, it's done for. She fully expects to head to the check out (where she does help out transferring items from the cart to the conveyor belt) then head home to cook her noonles. Which is what we did today, but not before I caught sight of this:
It inspired me. I think I may have to make my own version. Maybe as part of the budget friendly living room makeover. A few photos, some cute scrapbook paper, and a frame...has definite potential. Yay for Cha-get!
