Not Just A Princess Party

In a perfect world, this post would have been here a week or two ago. As Summer has segued into Fall and these two Bruns girls fall into a new routine of work and preschool and gymnastics and dance (with ICE skating lessons soon to be added into the mix), there just hasn't been the time. So I finally put "party blog" on my To-Do list and it jumped to the top of the list...right now.

For her fourth birthday Miss Libby had a Tangled Painting party for a few of closest friends. It was perfect...the girl LOVES Rapunzel...the girl LOVES painting...and well, Rapunzel paints so two "themes" became one. Truthfully, I don't think Libby cared much what the theme was. She had two requirements: 1.) Channing and Grace and Lily had to come and 2.) she needed a Barbie princess cake. But a theme gave mama an excuse to stretch her creative wings and in the end, it came together perfectly.

Her invitations were printed on paint chips, notifying Princes and Princesses throughout the Kingdom that Princess Libby would be celebrating. A small Tangled themed snack menu was pulled together, with paint chip signs declaring what each item was. Braids were woven. Paint can party favors were lovingly assembled. A tower even appeared on the front lawn. Presents arrived. And a birthday princess and her royal compatriots spent an afternoon enjoying themselves and each other.

As Libby said...it was just perfect!

A feast fit for Rapunzel...and Libby and her friends. PB&J Duckling sandwiches, Maximus' Apples (& Carrots) with dip, Black Olive Towers, Magic Golden Flower Punch, and of course...a Barbie cake in a Rapunzel dress. All served at the Snuggly Duckling, of course.

Because all Princes and Princesses need to play.

Painting masterpieces.  For three-, four-, and five-year olds they made some beautiful artwork.

Pin Pascal on Rapunzel. I couldn't believe how much the girls (Channing insisted on sitting out this one) enjoyed playing this game. Must have been the novelty of it.

A magic lantern, just like in Tangled. The kids each got to make a wish before the lantern was lit and it floated off into the sky.

Party highlight: Swinging on Rapunzel's "hair", just like in the movie. (See, I told you a tower appeared on the front lawn.) Shouts of glee and "whee" from each and every guest filled the neighborhood.

There you have it folks. A Tangled Painting party for Princess Libby.

love always,
Kendra (aka Mother Gothel)
